At a very young age I developed a deep passion for sport horses. The quest to find a horse whose sheer essence is grounded in versatility, agility, intelligence and uncompromising nobility is a goal that has motivated us throughout this journey that has spanned over many years. After researching, experimenting with and testing several different breeds, we found that the Lusitano possessed all the attributes that constitute an all- around champion horse. By far, the Lusitano’s athletic ability and noble character is what convinced us that this was the breed of choice.

For several years I have traveled the world in search of the best Lusitano lineages. This journey has taken me to several horse breeding facilities in Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, the United States and Europe. In all of these locations, I have met with and discussed the characteristics of the Lusitano with breeders, owners and riders alike. These professionals provided me with first-hand information and research regarding the breed. In 2001, I initiated breeding activities with a select group of mares from Portugal and Brazil.

HARAS AZUL acquired proven sport bloodlines to breed a product that presented a wide range of options in terms of use from Dressage to Bull-fighting and ranch work.

The HARAS AZUL bloodlines include Veiga, Andrade and Quina with descendants of Nilo, Neptuno, Dragao, Zique, Peralta, Rubi Ar and most recently my own Gregorio Azul.

In order to reach our goals, I make a meticulous choice of stallions to breed our mares in HARAS AZUL. In 2020 my chosen stallions are Gregorio Azul, Equador MVL and Escorial.
